BBC and tennis

What is it with the BBC and its obsession with reporting on and even leading sports reports with the minor achievements of one never will be and one has-been tennis player in the first round of a tournament in some far flung part of the world that no-one has heard off or cares about. And don't start me on the wall to wall coverage of Wimbledon. Is it not about time that tennis was relegated to the status of say rounders.

Even worse is the the wall to wall coverage of the Eastbourne warm up tournament.

I don't care so much since the Simpsons has been moved to Ch4.

TV stations and the betting industry have shaped the idea and hierarchy of sport. For example, the news reports on the Olympics and World Cup alongside darts and snooker adding authenticity to these minor sports/ games to which they own the rights.

Variety is the spice of life.............or so they say.

Personally I get fed up with wall-to-wall coverage of the Premiership.

More 'minor' sports at any time rather than a Sky Sports News phone -in poll on whether Arsene wenger brushed his hair this morning, or if Cristiano Ronaldo has had a body wax in the last fortnight
