Why do TV weather forecasts on ITV and BBC ignore Eire? It is a next door neighbour after all. Seems a bit churlish or do the BBC and ITV channels that the Southern Irish watch include the Emerald Isle? Sounds like a question for the dark eyed Irish nymph to answer.

Agreed , although i'm not a dark eyed nymph, only dark eyed
H worked in Eire for 6yrs and he couldn't understand why it wasn't shown. I agreed, as when I went across to spend time there *all* the weather was forecast although they did concentrate on Eire and the North, they even gave details of ferry crossings to the mainland, was really helpful.
Was kinda prior to *everyone* having internet access though !!

I think it's because we still see ourselves as a Union, although Scotland do have an auld alliance with France
I know loads of guys who work in Eire and vice versa with guys from Eire working in England so it seems closer to home, to me anyway.

Question Author
France might be closer in geographical terms but not in cultural or historical terms. In historic ways Eire cannot be blamed for hating the English. We raped that country, we were totally guilty. The Irish were forced to export food to England during their famine. Figure that one out. It is indefensible.
Sorry, having an 'off subject' rant.

Hello wildside, nice to see you back again.
Why do you think there is a blank area between Newcastle and Norwich? Is it unihabited?
|
|
|
Nothing exists above Newcastle.
When I watch the BBC or ITV weather bulletins, not the regional ones, when they refer to up in the North I naturally think Aberdeenshire/Highlands and Islands...nope it's Newcastle !
Tony you rant all you like it's fact, you can't argue with fact,
I won't mention Bannockburn at this point....
