Peggy .... a survivor. John Snow explained simply that to be able to be comfortable expressing love .. you have to have experienced it .. and she'd had very little of that. Malcolm ... reminded me of my dads situation before we got a care team in place & my mums & our care of him. Philip grieving for his wife ... heartbreaking! Ivy ... not sure of the family situation but I thought there was something wrong there ... why was she struggling? Wouldn't you do everything possible to get her rehoused or look in to benefits to help her? May be she was just too proud to talk to her family about it?

I suppose it's really hard to get living accomodation these days private or rented .. especially when Ivy was already housed. I think the fact her situation was televised helped her case.

Tonight's episode seemed to feature the very best carehomes. Why didn't they show the grotty ones?

Question Author

missed it tony

the bad ones wouldnt let them in

sadly it seems from the press that the majority of care homes are bad

they hire crappy staff for th4e lowest rates and couldnt gove a toss what happens to the residents as long as they get the cash for them

i suspect many care home owners are nothing more than thieves

claiming money for mistreating old people

thats my opinion.

It makes me fear for my future. I hope I pop my clogs before I end up in some third rate carehome.

na fook it i'm not having my dignity taken away from me, a lot of these homes catheterise the old folk as they dont have the staff to keep on taking them to the toilet.

last night^s programme was very sad, and in an ideal world we should not require care homes , but live with family members ( if we have any ) until we die in our own bed , but caring for someone with dementia or mobility problems is extremely difficult, re LL point of " jumping " before he got to the stage of a care home.if you have dementia or mobility issues that option may :not be possible sad
