It strikes me that No. 3 could be about any cricketer who scored 100 first class centuries - Dennis Amiss, Graeme Hick and Glenn Turner have all achieved it since Boycott, but his was the most high profile.
No. 9 could refer to 1937 and George Mutch

Good one Hammond, except it was 1938. He scored a penalty in the last minute of extra time to win the match for Preston 1-0 v Huddersfield
