Horse trainer Henderson hit with record fine

Horse trainer Henderson hit with record fine Horse trainer Nicky Henderson has been fined a record £40,000 and banned from racing for three months after being found guilty of a doping offence.

Henderson was found to have administered the prohibited drug tranexamic acid to Moonlit Path before a meeting in Huntingdon in February, where his charge finished sixth.

The 58-year-old admitted three of the four charges, but denied any breach of the British Horseracing Authority's rule 200, which sets out the laws on administering or attempting to administer a positive substance.

As a result of the hearing Henderson has been banned from running any of his horses for 13 weeks between July 11th and October 10th, although he has not been banned from the sport in a wider context.

Henderson is one of the biggest names in the sport and his conviction is all the more embarrassing for the industry because he is the official royal trainer.ADNFCR-8000010-ID-19249363-ADNFCR
