Bayern Munich eyeing move for Manchester City's Edin Dzeko By Tom Witham

Edin Dzeko could be set to leave Manchester City this summer, with German giants Bayern Munich leading the race for his signature.

The Bosnian striker has found himself left on the sidelines in recent weeks as City boss Roberto Mancini has preferred Sergio Aguero, Mario Balotelli and Carlos Tevez at times upfront.

He moved to the Etihad Stadium in a £27 million deal only 15 months ago but could already be surplus to requirements as his promising early form appears to have disappeared.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Bayern are ready to test the Citizens' resolve with a cash offer. They fear they could lose hitman Mario Gomez to Real Madrid and see Dzeko as the ideal replacement.

Mancini is believed to have informed staff at City that Dzeko does not fit in with his short passing game and can leave the north-west if a suitable offer is received.

His departure would also free up a space in the star-studded squad available to the Italian, allowing him to add further recruits this summer.ADNFCR-8000010-ID-801340024-ADNFCR
