Snooker max break

Mon 16/06/08 06:57

Player breaking off in frame does not touch a red. Cue ball returns to baulk where it nestles behind yellow. Does the opponent get option of a free ball in this situation? If so and he pots the free ball, follows with a black, then clears a maximum 147, is that player's break 155? Plus the 4 for the fault, which of course would not count towards the break, giving a final score of 159 from one visit to the table..

Yes. If they get a free ball, it counts as a red. They could then take a black, plus the remaining 15 reds and blacks, plus all the colours to make 155.

Here's a thought - player breaks off, pots all 15 reds, but goes in off in the process. No score but 4 for the foul to his opponent.

Opponent takes yellow, green, brown, blue and pink to win the frame. Lowest possible winning frame score = 24 - 0.
