Why are we called 'GB' when this refers to Eng. Scot. & Wales only?
As the team includes Northern Ireland why is it not 'UK' as in most other events eg 'Eurovision song'.?

"Great Britain" was the name given to the United Kingdoms Olympic team in 1908 before The Republic of Ireland left the union in the 1920s.
The official name of our team is still Great Britain and Northern Ireland, however competitors from the North have a choice of competing for GB or Ireland.
