Olympics 2012

how many medals

i know that there are 302 events in this years olympics but how many medals are awarded in total considering the team events when the 1st 2nd and 3rd would get a medal each and also (i think) the losing semi finalists such as boxing get a bronze medal each

It would be hard to work out the actual number to be presented as there could be ties for third places and as you mention in boxing, judo, taekwondo and wrestling, two bronze medals were awarded in each weight class, also I think in the relay events medals are awarded to all who taken part in quantifying event if they did not participate in the final

thanks Fibonacci , i cannot find a specific number myself and not forgetting the football event , don't know how many players make up the squads and as we agree there are two lots of bronze medals awarded for the losing semi finalists .
and also do the managers of teams (whichever sport) get a medal
