Captain Beecher fell from Conrad in the 1839 running of the Grand National. He sheltered in the brook and then remounted - the fence and brook were then named after him for evermore. The 1840 National was won by Jerry but I don't know if any of the 11 runners fell at Beecher's Brook. Tom Oliver did break a collar bone in this race but it was as Valentine's Brook.
