Sure it was 3/6 but didnt run so doesnt matter not lost anything.

3/6 is 1/2.

A £20 bet at these odds would win you £10 and then you'd get your winning stake back, making £30.

no such bet as 3/6 - you probably meant 4/6

£20 on a 4/6 winner would return you slightly over £33 as you say.

so in this case you wouldn't get an additional £20 - this would be included in the £33 - hope that makes sense!
