When muscles work hard they need more oxygen to burn sugar. So when you run your breathing gets faster and deeper, and your heart pumps faster and harder to boost blood supply. A fit person develops bigger lungs and a strong heart. If you're unfit, a long run makes you pant and your heart beat fast.
