3-ball match play - handicap strokes?!

I am looking to organize a friendly match between myself and 2 friends (1 vs. 2) in match play format. The idea is that I will compete against the better score of my 2 friends on each hole (me vs. their 2-man best ball).

Both of my friends have higher handicaps, and I'm trying to determine an appropriate handicap "allowance" for them as a team - does anyone have a good thought on how to do this?

While I would feel comfortable giving either friend their full strokes in a singles match, I feel that this format should only allow for a certain percentage of their strokes, given that they have 2 scores on each hole to use.

I would try taking both of their handicaps, adding them together then dividing by 2, that will leave an average handicap. then work off that average handicap
