How many different types of memberships do golf clubs have and what does each entail. For example there is ordinary membership and country membership, what other types?

There are usually several types of club membership to take account of age (Junior, standard, senior etc) and then there is country membership which is cheaper because the member has to live a certain distance from the course and therefore unlikely to use the facilities as much as the locals.

Further to my earlier answer, there is no set number of membership types. The clubs can make up as many as they wish to cover any number of eventualities.Public courses for instance have pay and play membership where the member pays a nominal fee of around £100 to obtain full competition and handicap facilities and then pay for each round as they play. They also have an inclusive membership where the cost is say £750 for a full year of playing as often as they wish.
