Ever see a more cowardly penalty decision than that?

Why don't referees think? For what possible reason would that atletico defender foul Gerrard in that position? Why don't referes ask themselves that? One of the worst decisions I've ever seen.

We see decisions like that every week, even clear cut penalties are not given.If you live by the dive then you should be prepared to die by the dive. However, as a red i thought it was NOT a penalty.

But I must give credit to Gerrard for his Billy Elliott impression

For once, I don't think diving comes into this - the referee only has to ask himself whether the defender thinks that the situation is so serious that he must take Gerrard out.
The answer is obvious, and so should the decision be, but he was a crowd pleaser.
In all these instances where the ball is heading to the corner flag and goalkeepers and defenders go to ground so forwards can fall over them, the referees should never give penalties and they would be right 99% of the time.
