wouldnt a cbe or some otherlow grade honour have sufficed him?

ok he got a gold medal , but isnt that his job ?
he cycles to win i assume.
you dont see a bus driver getting knighted for doing his job well.

or someone in macdonalds getting knighted for serving you fast and giving you hot fries.

yes i know hot fries at micky ds are rare as hens teeth but i had some once

should the wee guy erving have been given a knighthood ?
