4 x 100m relay Olympics 2008 Final

Fri 22/08/08 17:45

Ok what went wrong??
first the British men dosnt make to the Finals for being disqualified.

then the British women doesnt finish in the final. (total **** up in the last change over)

What a disaster!! There were Medal hopes for these two teams!! what ever happened? was it nerves?

just like what Colin Jackson said, 'no exsuse' the Brits have invested so much money into this event, it is poor performance! should have done better!!

Grr im soo so disappointed!! lets hope the 4 x 400m doesnt mess it up!!!!

i know Rtaxtron. (i was actually glad to see the Jamacans and the Yanks mess it up too)

but im talking about the Brits. i think they just got too excited after hearing the Yanks droped their batton. that used to be the Brits, but they have improved for the past few years. what do they need to do to prevent this from happening again? put some stickytape or magnet on the batton? lol. did u notice that it was the last person who messed it up for setting off too soon? .....

"It was your fault."

"No, it was yours."

"You dropped the baton."

"You didn't put it in my hand."

"Okay, it was the coach's fault."

Stuart Storey's commentary on the live broadcast of this race was quite appalling - as the runners came towards the second changeover it went something like this:

"It's Jamaica, number one - And they've blown it! They've not got the baton round - and Great Britain doing very well - and it's Russia - and Britain - and BELGIUM coming through - and Belgium win the title . . ."

Which left me totally confused.

The trouble is no-one practices baton handovers anymore, when I ran for Wales in the early 80's a lot of our time was taken up with relay practice, but I suppose team GB come from all over Britain so they don't get together that often. Even so slick changeovers aren't that hard, Craig Pickering went off far too early,Marlon Devonish had no chance on reaching him.
